The Flavors of Belize cookbook represents a remarkable collaboration between Belize's most valuable asset... It's people. Your culinary journey would be incomplete without sampling the flavors and traditions of some of Belize's most diverse cultures Maya, Mestizo, Creole, East Indian, Garifuna, Lebanese, Chinese, Mennonite, Caribbean and British, all of which are represented in this cookbook.
As Central America's gateway to the Caribbean, the beautiful beaches of Belize welcomed a fascinating parade of immigrants from remote corners of the globe. When all of these cultures came to peacefully coexist in such a small geography, their food was magically infused with a worldly flair. That is why Belize cuisine today is unlike that of any other country, yet hints at certain familiar tastes and influences you many have experienced from all corners of the world.
Flavors of Belize is the most comprehensive compilation of Belizean recipes; recipes from across cultures and recipes handed down through generations. The recipes contained within these pages will tantalize your palette and the enchanting variety of experiential dishes will bring good cheer to your kitchen, family, and friends.
If you love great food, you will love this book.

I have never been to Belize before, but one of my best friends (I've known her for 12 years) is from Belmopan City and on one of her annual trips she brought me back a little sack of red recado. Since then, I have fallen in love with the Belizean cuisine and this book is phenomenal. The pictures are exceptional and the recipes sound simply delicious. I also love the fact that most of the ingredients are ones that I can find at my local supermarket, whereas with some other books I've purchased for foreign cuisine I end up spending much more money searching for ingredients in specialty stores. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone, you don't know what you're missing!!!Product details

I would have liked a bigger variety of dishes (i.e. Rice & Beans has only one recipe, yet EVERY restaurant/food stop in Belize serves it, and many are different from one another). I'll be trying several of the recipes soon and I expect I'll like it based on what I've read.
I LOVE this cookbook!!! I went to Belize for a work trip & I fell in love with the food!!! As soon as I got home I ordered this book. I have made several recipes and they have all been very easy to follow! My favorite thing about this book is that many of the recipes are from the restaurants I ate at!! Would recommend this book to anyone!!!
As a Belizean, I am truly impressed and please with outcome of this book. I never owned a Belizean cookbook, but since I saw this book, I had to buy it! Recipes are explained properly and the color pictures just so much to the book. I have not tried any of the recipes but reading the recipes I know they will be just great! I would recommend this to anyone interested in owning a Belizean cookbook or would like to experiment with a little Central American and Caribbean cuisine.

Having visited Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye a bunch of times, I really wanted this cook book. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the book listed the chefs and restaurants that the recipes came from. Now I know exactly where to go when I go back.
Excellent cookbook sort of England meets Mexico. A nice addition to my rather extensive library. The recipes are well written and fairly easy to make. The ingredients can be easily found, and best of all ... the end results are very tasty. An enjoyable way to begin exploring cuisines from off the beaten path.
This is definitely one of the recipe books to keep near all your old classic recipes. It has been several years and trust me there has not been a Belizean recipe book on the market worthy enough to mention. The pictures are great - I have tried several recipes and it really does take you back to the island. Not only that, this book tells you the history behind the different cultural dishes and how they mesh the spices together. Delicious!!
This is a well written book and it was $34.00 well spent. The author has all of my favorite recipes and she was spot on. I loved her panades recipe and so happy I can finally make my own fish panades.
